“Alice gets into messes. I mean, what can I say, she’s worse than my two-year-old. [laughs]“
- Milla Jovovich
Check out this interesting clip from ET Canada featuring interview segments with Milla Jovovich and co-stars Ali Larter and Shawn Roberts on the set of Resident Evil: Afterlife in Toronto, Canada. Unfortunately, there’s no new footage from the movie itself, but there are some new details, as according to Milla, she teamed up again with fellow model and designer Carmen Hawk for Alice’s Afterlife look, as they did for Extinction back in 2007. Have a look below:
Resident Evil: Afterlife premieres in U.S. theaters September 10 2010.

Find It, Keep It
Milla Jovovich takes the long view on her career — and showcases five fall ensembles to buy now and wear forever.
“When it comes to fashion,” says actress Milla Jovovich, “I am very much a girl. It’s something that I use to express myself on a daily basis.” Not that it’s hard for her. With her ice-blue eyes, perfect skin and long, dark hair, Jovovich can easily look the beautiful bohemian — or, dressed accordingly, she can personify old-school glamour, given her strong Slavic features and epic poise. “I love the fantasy of it all,” she says. “Who wouldn’t?”
But even at just thirty-three, Jovovich has been working for such a long time that she’s practically due for a pension by now. She arrived in Los Angeles from her native Russia at age five and was acting and modeling by the time she turned eleven. When she got older, she started writing and performing rock music — singing, playing the guitar. Recently, she also codesigned a fashion label called Jovovich-Hawk, which she and her partner folded last year because it was eating up too much of their time. “I’m an artist,” Jovovich says. “I’m not someone who can deal with shipping rates and taxes.”
In case anyone was wondering, it would seem Milla’s still in Paris! Women’s Wear Daily makes a mention of Milla Jovovich at yesterday’s, March 8 2009, Alexander Wang Party Hosted by Colette in Paris, France, where Milla also discussed the future of her fashion design ventures with the website’s reporters. A medium-res photo of Milla at the event has been added to the gallery; hopefully, more will surface online soon. From WWD.com:
Meanwhile, following the closure of her Jovovich-Hawk line last year, Milla Jovovich, who’s just finished shooting the thriller A Perfect Getaway with Steve Zahn, said she’s seeking her next design project. “It has to be the right fit, I want to work with people who let me do my thing — and I really want to launch a baby line,” said Jovovich, who also put her hobby, doll houses, on hold. “They’re up in the loft, but they’ll come down again for my daughter one day. I had a whole village of them in my bedroom and my husband would have to make his way along a little path to get to the [bathroom] at night. He’s six-foot-four, so it got a bit tiresome,” she said.
Update: Milla continues to be active at Paris Fashion Week! Earlier today, March 9 2009, Milla Jovovich was spotted at the fashion week Yves Saint Laurent Autumn/Winter 2009 Fashion Show, of which the first six medium-res photos have been added to the gallery. As always, more will be added as I find them. Enjoy!
More of Milla at the ongoing Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! Yesterday, February 16 2009, a stylish Milla Jovovich was photographed front row at the Fashion Week Donna Karan Fall 2009 Fashion Show in New York, NY, alongside such names as Molly Sims, Rachel Zoe, Mary Alice Stephenson and the designer herself, Donna Karan. Check out our first 38 medium- and hi-res photos of Milla at the event at our gallery! Personally, I couldn’t be happier to see the end of Jovovich-Hawk hasn’t lessened Milla’s interest in fashion.
Speaking of Jovovich-Hawk and MB Fashion Week, Milla opened up about ending her and co-designer Carmen Hawk’s critically acclaimed clothing line at Sunday’s Y-3 Fall 2009 Fashion Show (from which we have more than 150 photos of Milla, by the way!) to New York Magazine. From NYMag.com:
Despite having to close her label, Jovovich Hawk, earlier this year, Milla Jovovich says she’ll be back in the designer saddle soon. Backstage at Y-3, the actress reflected on the end of Jovovich Hawk: “It was actually really amazing when we were very private and doing everything in-house, sewing all the clothes in-house, but as soon as the orders got too big and we had to outsource, it was disaster with production companies and factories. I mean, we just couldn’t handle it,” she explained. “We were two artist girls who didn’t have our business together.” Their Target line, she says, was their big good-bye. “We were like, all right, let’s end on a high note.”
She plans to design again, but with a bigger house that can take care of production, and has been talking with companies in Europe, although nothing is signed yet. Jovovich has also been dreaming up a line of children’s clothing now that she’s a mom. “A huge part of my life is dressing my little girl, and I spend way too much money doing it, so I’d like to make an affordable line for other mothers with cute stuff,” she said. Her inspiration comes from clothes that her mother sewed for her when she was a child in Russia. “There are some really special pieces that I was photographed in with my mom, like back in the seventies, that are just amazing.” She says the kids’ clothes will be cool, modern, utilitarian, and definitely mass-market. “Unfortunately, I don’t think many moms have the option to buy many great designs unless they spend a lot of money, so I would love to give them that option.” Jovovich says she’s still trying to find the best deal, but expects to make an announcement next year.
Hopefully the holidays are being good to y’all! As a holiday gift, I come bringing some of the latest Milla scan contributions, most à la the ever lovely Liz. The new material includes small Milla features in some of this Winter’s issues of various fashion and celebrity glossies, as well as an additional 2007 mag gem. Which brings me to today’s news update: magazine and advert features galore.
Milla Jovovich and fellow designer and good frend Carmen Hawk of the no longer active acclaimed fashion label Jovovich-Hawk, are briefly featured in the December 2008 issue of the UK publication of Elle (scans here), while Milla herself is also featured in the December 2008 issue of Elle (US) (scans here). It would also seem Milla is featured in a brand new editorial (probably) in the December 2008 issue of Italian Vanity Fair, two medium-res preview scans of which have been added to the gallery. While I will try my best to find this issue myself, if anyone is able to send in scans or confirm which issue of the magazine she is featured in, please do so! Thank you.
Finally, advertisement-wise, in addition to Milla and daughter Ever’s GAP Holiday 2008 adverts being featured in both Elle and Harper’s Bazaar US December 2008 issues, Milla’s latest L’Oréal “Infallible” foundation and lipstick adverts, the former of which is brand new to us, are featured in the December 2008 issue of Marie Claire (UK). Scans of both adverts have been added to the gallery, courtesy of Liz.
