To make up for the recent delay in updates (as caused by the server move), I’ve updated the gallery with tons of miscellaneous photos, many of which have been sent to me as contributions throughout the year. The new photos include scans, clippings, the .45 screen captures and promo footage we lost in the June ‘08 server crash, photoshoot outtakes and whatnot. A huge thank you for many of these goes to Liz, dummy, Maria and Mirik!

Onto the Milla news we’ve missed — which isn’t much — during our few weeks of open hiatus. Mainly, there’s been new magazine and advertisement media on Milla of late. For starters, Milla graces the September 2008 issues of Cookie (US) and Lucky (US) magazines, of which scans of the latter have been uploaded to the gallery, thanks to the ever wonderful Liz. If anyone is able to send in scans of Milla and baby Ever’s Cookie feature, please get in touch, as I am unable to obtain this issue in my country. Thank you! Women’s Wear Daily has lots of great details on Milla and fiancé (not husband, as the article — and the English language advert, strangely enough — claims) Paul’s newly released ad campaign for Samsonite Black Label (which, by the way, rocks my socks), including news on an upcoming event Milla (and Paul?) will be attending. From WWD.com:

Everybody is working for the weekend. Or so believes Samsonite Black Label, which is launching a new ad campaign with model, musician, actress and designer Milla Jovovich and her husband Paul Anderson. The photos, taken by photographer Norman Jean Roy, show the couple pausing by a car on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles along with their travel gear from the new Samsonite Black Label Weekend Collection. The campaign will run until the end of August in magazines and newspapers across Europe, Asia and Latin America. Jovovich will be present at a launch event for the collections this month in L.A.

Whoa! We finally have a first look at Milla’s advertisement campaign for Samsonite Black Label - and it’s absolutely gorgeous! You’ll notice fiancé, director Paul W.S. Anderson standing in the background; personally, I love the idea of them both appearing in the same ad. A huge thank you to the ever wonderful Liz for sending in this gem!

Oh, and in case you are wondering whatever happened to our calendars, they will return. In July. Sorry guys, entrance exams take priority this Spring!… and June.

MPDClick reports Milla will be fronting the Spring 2008 advertisement campaign for the Samsonite Black Label brand! Let’s hope some samples of her adverts surface online soon. From MPDClick Online:

Dutch designers, Viktor & Rolf will follow in the footsteps of Alexander McQueen, to create a luxury collection of travel bags and accessories for Samsonite. The collection will be sold under Samsonite’s premium Black Label brand, and will be launched in autumn 08, but in stores by spring 09. Viktor & Rolf decided to focus on soft pieces, compared to McQueen, who designed a hard luggage range. The new collection will include carry-on bags, travel totes, and beauty cases.

Samsonite is one of many companies who are trying to revamp their image and bring in innovative designers and celebrities to boost its sales. They have recently bought in Hollywood star, Milla Jovovich, to front their spring 08 campaign. The collaborations will hopefully be a commercial success in proving that Samsonite is a fashion-forward brand.
