Hope you were all able to catch Milla Jovovich & co. promoting Resident Evil: Afterlife at its Tokyo World Premiere earlier this morning, if not directly on location then via USTREAM.tv’s live-streamed coverage. We’ve just updated the gallery with our first batch of photos of Milla looking stunning at today’s premiere; also pictured are co-stars Wentworth Miller and Ali Larter. So far, we haven’t found any pictures of Afterlife-director and Milla’s husband Paul W.S. Anderson at the event; it’s therefore likely that he wasn’t there, but rather working on The Three Musketeers in Germany. Check back with us for many more (we hope!) premiere pics soon…

Well, we’re nearing the eve of the Resident Evil: Afterlife Tokyo world premiere, and more material from the film just keeps coming in. Check out these nine new promotional stills + one behind-the-scenes pic of Milla Jovovich portraying the film’s protagonist, Alice at our gallery. None of the newly uploaded pics are particularly spoiler-y and should therefore be safe to view for everyone.

Also, UGO has yet another new TV spot for Afterlife, this one a full minute long and with quite a few new glimpses from the film. Have a look for yourself:

More movie premiere news: The official website for the Toronto International Film Festival has at last confirmed the world premiere for Abe Sylvia’s Dirty Girl, starring Milla Jovovich opposite Juno Temple, William H. Macy, Dwight Yoakam and Jeremy Dozier. In addition to Dirty Girl, Milla also has a second film premiering at this year’s TIFF, namely the anticipated John Curran crime drama, Stone.

The debut screening dates:
• September 10: Stone, 9 PM at the VISA Screening Room – TIFF.net movie page
• September 12: Dirty Girl, 6:30 PM at Varsity 8 – TIFF.net movie page

The 2010 Toronto International Film Festival opens September 9 and runs through September 19.

And there’s more great news regarding the upcoming festival event, as the TIFF website has Milla listed as an “expected guest” at the festival. Milla herself confirmed her festival attendance yesterday via her verified Twitter account @MillaJovovich:

hey! i will b in toronto 4 the festival on the 9th n 10th! (Aug 29)

If the dates hold true, this means Milla will likely be in Toronto for the festival opening and the Stone premiere. The Dirty Girl premiere on the other hand is not until September 12, and is also not listed on the TIFF website as a “Premium Screening” (unlike Stone, and even though director Sylvia as well as many of the film’s other stars are also all expected festival guests), so it’s possible that, with production for Three Musketeers having already begun in Germany and the press tour for Resident Evil: Afterlife, she will not show up for it. Only time will tell, though!

According to this press release via Globe Newswire, Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil: Afterlife will be premiering this Thursday, September 2 in Tokyo, Japan. From the source:

RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE 3D Worldwide Premiere From Tokyo, Japan

WHAT: World Premiere of Screen Gems’ “RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE” from the Roppongi Hills Arena in Tokyo, Japan on September 2, 2010.

The fourth installment of the hugely successful RESIDENT EVIL franchise, RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE is again based on the wildly popular video game series, and will this time be presented in 3-D.

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead – and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

WHO: FROM THE FILM – Milla Jovovich, Wentworth Miller, Ali Larter

This sounds about right, as Milla tweeted some 12 hours ago via her verified Twitter account @MillaJovovich about having arrived in Japan with her longtime friend, Chris Brenner:

Well we’ve finally arrived to tokyo! Hello JAPAN!! (Aug 30)

@chrissbrenner and i in tokyo! its a bit backlit, but u can c the city! we’re going 4 teppanyaki tonite! http://tweetphoto.com/42321604 (Aug 30)

Should be brilliant.

Yet another brilliant Resident Evil: Afterlife-related clip. Check out this 9-minute clip of B-roll footage from the Toronto set of Afterlife from Collider.com, featuring a lot of great and to date unseen footage of Milla Jovovich and her director-husband Paul W.S. Anderson filming on their respective sides of the camera. The video is a great look at what the atmosphere on the set was (and, generally, is) like, and also reveals rather interestingly how the various action and green screen scenes were done (personally, a particular revelation was the airplane rooftop landing sequence, a clip of which you’ll find at Yahoo! Movies). Co-stars Ali Larter, Wentworth Miller, Boris Kodjoe and Kim Coates are naturally also featured. Best video yet, if you ask me!

A second Resident Evil: Afterlife behind-the-scenes featurette has found its way online, and it’s at least as much loaded with Awesome as the first; several new glimpses of the film, footage from the set and interview segments with writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson, stars Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter and Boris Kodjoe and others. Please be advised, though, that the clip is mildly spoiler-y. Courtesy of Ultimate-RE.com:

Update: As always, we’ve updated the gallery with some 80 1080p HD screen captures of Milla in this video. Be sure to check them out!
