Just minutes ago, Milla Jovovich announced via her Twitter account @MillaJovovich that she will be starring in the new film Dirty Girl from writer-director Abe Sylvia! She has been cast in the film opposite William H. Macy and Juno Temple.
Via Milla’s Twitter account:
hey! so my meeting with the director Abe S[ylvi]a for a movie called “dirty girl” went great! i’m gonna do it later this month, i’m so excited!
its with Juno Temple, an incredible young actress who will play my daughter! lol! a daughter my character had when she was 16!
it takes place in the early 80’s and its a comedy abt two teens who run away from home leaving their dysfunctional parents freaking out.
She furthermore mentions Keep Coming Back, the much-delayed indie drama from William H. Macy, in which Milla was slated to star. Since the announcement of Milla’s involvement in the film, it’s been plagued by insurmountable financing difficulties, and she now confirms the film isn’t happening at this point:
william h. macy is in [Dirty Girl] too which is so gr8 cause we were supposed to do a film together that he was gonna direct which didn’t happen.
yea, at this point it ain’t coming back or going anywhere
We’re, of course, very sorry to hear about Keep Coming Back, however congrats on the new project regardless, Milla!

NBC Connecticut reports a sequel to the 2001 cult comedy Zoolander is happening. The Ben Stiller-directed original starred not only Stiller himself but also Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell and Christine Taylor, not to mention Milla Jovovich as the hilarious Russian caricature, Katinka, and although the film’s theatrical release fared poorly at the time ,the film has made revenue in DVD sales and rentals and has since developed a solid fan following.
From NBC Connecticut:
Justin Theroux, who had a hand in writing both Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2, is heading to Fashion Week in Paris to prepare to write the Zoolander sequel. Ben Stiller, star, director and co-writer of the original, is working on a new script with Theroux, who plans to “immerse himself on what is current in fashion,” a source has told Deadline Hollywood.
As of yet, this hasn’t been officially confirmed, nor whether or not any of the original cast (including Milla) have plans to or interest in reprising their roles in the upcoming film, or if they have even been approached on the matter. However, some may recall Milla briefly touching upon the sequel in an interview for the September 2009 issue of US Maxim as follows:
Do you ever watch your old movies?
I actually saw Zoolander the other day. It was funny, man. I heard something about a sequel, and if they do it, I really hope they bring back Katinka.
As of yet, this isn’t even really much of a project rumor but we’ll keep you posted nonetheless. After all, who knows…

As some of you will know, as far back as in 2007, Milla Jovovich was set to portray Amalia Bezhetskaya in The Winter Queen (aka. Azazel), the 19th century Russian crime drama based on the novel by Boris Akunin. Since its announcement, the production of the film has suffered multiple delays, however, and in mid-2009 it seemed unlikely that either Milla or then-slated director Paul Verhoeven were moving ahead with the project.
Today, however, Screen Daily reports The Winter Queen is back in the works with a new director, Fyodor Bondarchuk, and with Star Trek-actor Anton Yelchin signed on. The article further implies that Milla Jovovich is still set to star in the film, while at the same time making no mention of the film’s other previously signed actor, Dan Stevens. From Screen Daily:
Anton Yelchin, riding high on the global success of Star Trek, has been cast opposite Milla Jovovich in Seven Arts Pictures’ period thriller The Winter Queen.
Seven Arts COO Kate Hoffman said financing was in place on the long-gestating project and filming was set to commence this summer in St Petersburg, Russia and Budapest, Hungary. It will be directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk, whose credits include Russian blockbuster Inhabited Island, and will tell the story of a Moscow investigator who uncovers an international conspiracy.
Thomas Hedman and Alan Marshall are producing the film, which was initially set up several years ago for Paul Verhoeven to direct.
Personally, if true, I am super-excited for this news! The Winter Queen has long been perhaps my most anticipated of Milla’s upcoming projects, and I sincerely hope they are at last able to move ahead with production. Hopefully, this news will be confirmed soon by an official source. We’ll keep you posted!
