Yet another update on Vykrutasy!

First, we have an article on the Russian-language romcom from Prime Time Russia, featuring a brief interview with debuting director Leo Gabriadze. Perhaps the most relevant to us Milla Jovovich-fans are these excerpts:

With two of Russia’s most sought-after artists in the lead – the burlesque “one-man band” Ivan Urgant and the versatile “Hamlet” Konstantin Khabensky, as well as the Fifth Element star Milla Jovovich in the limelight – there must have been an electric chemistry between all the three on set.

“Well, Ivan and Milla actually knew each other from before. It was fun working with all of them. The atmosphere on set was laid back and happy, everybody was joking all the time. Milla is amazing. She has so much passion, respect and devotion! And remember, she has never performed in Russian before. It was very hard for her. She has really shaped her character, put herself into it. Initially I didn’t like her character as written in the script, but she somehow managed to breathe real life into it, making it exciting and strong. The whole team was in love with her. She is open and charming.” [...]

Given that Timur Bekmambetov – one of the most celebrated, foremost and successful Russian filmmakers working in Hollywood and who directed Night Watch, Day Watch, and Wanted – is producing the film, will his “Vykrutasy” also try to attract audiences outside of Russia after the film’s release later this autumn?

“If you shoot a Russian-language movie, you are targeting Russian audiences. It is quite rare that your story is so understandable for audiences across the world that it becomes successful elsewhere. But when you are making a comedy about a specific situation, with specific jokes and dialogues, it is hard to target international audiences.”

The full article, complete with a couple of pics from the set, is available for reading on the Prime Time Russia website.

Then we have another two Russian TV reports from the Moscow set of the film, thanks to Vasilij. This first report is from the June 22 day of shooting. Although Milla herself is not interviewed, the clip features several great glimpses of her and co-stars Ivan Urgant and Konstantin Khabenskiy on the set and off-camera. Producer Timur Bekmambetov is also interviewed, but of course only in Russian. Here’s the clip:

Lots of official site news and goodies today!

Beginning with the John Curran-directed crime drama Stone, the film has a newly released official site at www.stonemovie.com. Although the website doesn’t yet feature a lot of content, it does come with a HD version of roughly the same trailer we posted here on the site a couple of days ago. Check out in HD below or on YouTube, or download it via iTunes from the Apple Trailers website:

The gallery screen caps have of course been updated accordingly with HD replacements. The website also finally confirms Stone will get a limited theatrical U.S. release on October 8.

Then for some goodies from the recently expanded U.S. official site for Resident Evil: Afterlife at www.residentevil-movie.com. The website now has a lot more content, including wallpapers, both trailers, information, games, and a couple of mini clips from the film scattered over various sections of the site. We’ve updated the gallery with a couple of screen shots of some of the new Milla Jovovich “poster-ish” pictures on the site, a couple of hi-res wallpapers and a better-res version of Milla and co-star Boris Kodjoe’s promotional still. Be sure to have a look at everything (including ResidentEvil-Movie.com)!

Check out this really great Russian-language video clip from Sugar Mouse @ DemiLovato.ru, of Milla Jovovich discussing Vykrutasy in a Russian TV report on the upcoming romcom. Milla stars in the film as Nadya opposite Konstantin Khabenskiy and Ivan Urgant.

Although both the report and Milla’s interview are in Russian, Sugar Mouse tells us Milla talks in her interview about how she got involved in the film, the difficulties she experienced having to learn her lines in the course of just 10 days of filming, how she enjoyed working on the film, and even pokes fun at her accent. The clip also features a lot of fantastic behind-the-scenes glimpses from the wedding set, so it’s definitely worth a look even if you don’t understand the language. The clip via YouTube:

By the way, this report also confirms our earlier speculations that the director of Vykrutasy is indeed Levan “Leo” Gabriadze, and not Wanted-director Timur Bekmambetov as the Internet Movie Database claims. In Gabriadze’s interview segment, you can just make out the word “Director” (“Режиссер”) under his name. Bekmambetov, meanwhile, is only producing.
