News from Milla’s official site! According to their sources, the upcoming John Curran-directed drama film, Stone, starring Milla Jovovich opposite Edward Norton and Robert De Niro, has been pushed back to Fall 2010. No word on why the delay. Meanwhile, check out a first promotional still of Milla in the film at our gallery, courtesy of Milla’s official site.
Stone is the newest film from Painted Veil-director Curran, about convicted arsonist “Stone” (Norton), who plans to secure his parole by allowing his beautiful wife Lucetta (Jovovich) seduce his parole officer, Jack Maybury (De Niro). Stone has been in post-production since August 2009.

Not a whole of news to report today. However, Winston-Salem Journal recently sat down with Stone playwright and screenwriter Angus MacLachlan to discuss the upcoming John Curran-directed film adaptation starring Milla Jovovich opposite Robert De Niro and Edward Norton. The film is currently in production in Michigan. Some highlights from the Winston-Salem Journal:
Angus MacLachlan has spent several weeks this month watching Robert DeNiro and Edward Norton recite words he wrote. “It’s fantastic,” MacLachlan said. “It’s amazing to sit there and watch them work…. When you meet celebrities, you have to act like you’re really cool with it, but then every once in a while he’ll say a line and you’ll say, ‘Oh, my God, that’s Robert DeNiro!’”
DeNiro and Norton are two of the stars of Stone, a feature film written by MacLachlan that’s now being shot in Michigan. The cast also includes Milla Jovovich and Frances Conroy. John Curran (The Painted Veil) is the director.
MacLachlan, a Winston-Salem screenwriter and playwright, is best known for the 2005 film Junebug and the short film Tater Tomater. He originally wrote Stone as a play in 2000. The film’s release date has not yet been set, but it will likely be in 2010.
“The basic story of the film, when you get down to the heart of it, is this man in prison (Norton) trying to get his case manager Jack (DeNiro) to recommend him for parole,” MacLachlan said. “He tells his wife (Jovovich), who’s on the outside, to seduce Jack and compromise him. It’s reflective of what’s happening in the entire world, that when you build your life on leverages and false structures, when those start to collapse, how do you then justify your actions, morally or otherwise?”

Although David Twohy’s A Perfect Getaway is just around the corner, I thought this would be an appropriate time to catch up with some of Milla Jovovich’s other rumored and confirmed upcoming projects in terms of updates in progress. Kicking things off with…
Stone: John Curran’s drama thriller Stone (2010), co-starring Edward Norton and Robert De Niro has been added to Milla’s IMDb filmography as “rumored” (although the news has been confirmed by her official site). The film’s IMDb page furthermore has a synopsis for the film, and Milla’s character has a name: Lucetta. From the Internet Movie Database:
A convicted arsonist looks to manipulate a parole officer into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife in the lawman’s path.
Resident Evil 4: The upcoming Resident Evil 4 (2010), which Milla’s screenwriter fiancé Paul W.S. Anderson has discussed with online sources from time to time, has also been added to Milla’s filmography as “rumored”, while the film’s status on IMDb is now set as “Pre-production” with the following additional comments: “Scripting complete; casting has begun”. Filming locations are said to be Alaska, USA and Tokyo, Japan; based on this information I think it’s pretty safe to say the fourth film will pick up where Extinction left us off. Other casting rumors include Austin Peck (Days of Our Lives) as Kevin Ryman and Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) as Leon S. Kennedy. No director is yet onboard. Milla’s involvement has not been confirmed in any way, however; please keep that in mind.
The Winter Queen: Things have been very quiet around Paul Verhoeven’s Winter Queen (2010), previously titled Azazel, since Milla’s pregnancy announcement in April 2007. The film’s IMDb page remains unchanged, however Empire Online reports Verhoeven recently signed on to direct The Surrogate, so The Winter Queen might still be a way off yet. The article does mention the latter, however, stating the film is currently in “pre-production”. Go figure.
