Earlier in the week we reported of Ultraviolet: Code 044, an anime spin-off for Kurt Wimmer’s 2006 sci-fi action film Ultraviolet in which Milla portrays the title role. Although Milla is to my knowledge not attached to the anime production, we’re still following up on the film and its progress, and Dale was kind enough to send in two links for the film’s trailer at Animax.co.jp and YouTube respectively. The most sharp-eared ones will notice they used Klaus Badelt’s opening credits score in the trailer. Thanks, Dale!

Well, this is interesting news. According to Anime News Network, the upcoming anime Ultraviolet: Code 044 is based on Kurt Wimmer’s 2006 sci-fi action film Ultraviolet, in which Milla portrayed the title role. Note, however, that Milla is not a part of this anime production. From Anime News Network:

The Animax satellite television network confirmed in a Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008 press conference on Thursday that its Ultraviolet: Code 044 anime is based on Kurt Wimmer’s 2006 live-action Ultraviolet film starring Milla Jovovich. The anime was pre-announced in a press release for the event. Famed director Osamu Dezaki (Ashita no Joe, Aim For The Ace!, Lupin III movies) will supervise the animators of Madhouse and Tezuka Productions. Dezaki’s longtime collaborator Akio Sugino (Ashita no Joe, Aim For The Ace!, Black Jack The Movie, Golgo 13: The Professional) will design the characters. Romi Paku (Fullmetal Alchemist’s Ed, NANA’s Nana Osaki) will voice the main character “044.” 044 is a female warrior genetically engineered with high combat skills and ordered by the government to annihilate a vampire army. Madhouse founder Masao Maruyama will produce with Sony Pictures Entertainment (Japan). The project will premiere on Animax on July 1 to mark the anime network’s 10th anniversary

Things continue to be quiet with Milla (hence the not-too-frequent updates), so I’m using this opportunity to work on some new material for the site. A new look and a press archive are among some of the things under construction.

However, as I was working on the site earlier today, I came upon some irresistible Milla goodies I just couldn’t wait to add to our media archive, namely three MTV video interviews with Milla regarding the production of Ultraviolet (2006), the Kurt Wimmer-directed sci-fi action film which unfortunately fared rather poorly both critically and commercially. I truly recommend checking them out, especially clips 2 and 3, in which Milla presents some of Violet’s weaponry as well as demonstrates some swinging moves with Violet’s trademark sword.
