What a pleasant surprise to wake up to! Check out Milla Jovovich looking nothing short of striking on the September 2010 cover of Gotham. The brand new cover shoot was photographed by Steve Erle; the cover and inside pictures at our gallery. As always, we’ll doing our best to get our hands on the magazine for scans, however if you would like to send yours in, please do so as this might not be an easy issue for us to obtain. Thank you!

There’s also a small but very interesting article and interview with Milla at Gotham-Magazine.com. In the interview, Milla talks among other things about planning to have more children soon, how she got her part in The Three Musketeers and why she’s working so hard now. The excerpts:

[...] Despite the nonstop schedule, there might be an end in sight. In a couple of years her two-year-old daughter, Ever, will be ready for school, and 34-year-old Jovovich thinks that at that point, it’s only fair she settle down and be a full-time mom. “Once she starts school, I want to stay in one place and be there to take her to school and just have a normal life,” she explains by phone from Winnipeg, where she’s filming Faces in the Crowd. “When your kid is in school, it’s hard to just pick her up and travel. So right now I am taking advantage of the time when she is mobile.”

[...]Along with dipping back into the things she loves outside of acting, Jovovich also plans to work on bringing little Ever a sibling. “It’s been tough because this year piled up on me starting last fall, and I thought, Wow, I might not be able to have a baby this year,” she says. “Right now we are shooting for next year because I don’t want there to be too much of an age difference between the two of them. So it’s gotta happen, and it’s gotta happen soon.”

Making it happen means finishing up The Three Musketeers, which starts filming this month. The 3-D action-adventure extravaganza stars Jovovich in the coveted role of Milady de Winter, plus Oscar winner Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu and Orlando Bloom as the Duke of Buckingham. While Jovovich was dying to do the role of de Winter, she didn’t expect her husband to play favorites in the casting—she even suggested other actors for the role.

“I gave my two cents, even for my part,” she explains. “I told him that I really wanted this movie, but it’s his movie, and I even suggested some other actresses who I thought would be good for the part. But it ended up that the studio was really happy with me, and I felt wonderfully blessed to be brought on.”

Not perhaps the most career-oriented of recognitions, but worth a mention nonetheless. According to Just Jared and several other news sources, Milla Jovovich has landed in 21st place in Maxim‘s annual Hot 100 line-up of women (though the official list has yet to be published on the Maxim website). In 2009, Milla placed 63rd on the list, which means she’s climbed up more than 40 places from last year. Bet two movies and a Maxim cover feature in between had something to do with that. Congrats, Milla!

A couple of interesting new articles today. Celebrity Baby Blog have posted an exclusive article/interview with Milla Jovovich, in which she talks about her 2-year-old daughter, Ever, with Resident Evil: Afterlife writer-director-husband Paul W.S. Anderson. Among other things, she talks about how she has no plans to introduce young Ever to the entertainment industry, and how difficult the paparazzi make it for her to appear outdoors with Ever. The article is particularly rare and interesting as Milla isn’t one to very actively and publicly express her dismay at being photographed in her private life.

Read the full article at Celebrity Baby Blog, excerpts follow:

Milla Jovovich burst onto the modeling scene at the tender age of 12, but she says daughter Ever Gabo, 2, won’t be quite so overexposed. “She’s not going to be a working child,” the actress, 34, tells PEOPLE Moms & Babies. “For me it’s kind of creepy, the whole working kid kind of thing.”

Jovovich is quick to point out, however, that their circumstances differ drastically. “We were struggling financially, we were immigrants from Russia and we really needed to succeed,” she recalls. “My mom saw talent in me and she wanted to make the best and most out of it.” By contrast, Jovovich says that because of her and director husband Paul W.S. Anderson’s success, there is “no real use for [Ever] to work.”

[...] She’s also learned that even when it appears as though she has carved out some of that special time for herself, she is rarely alone! “In L.A. it’s hard because the paparazzi is everywhere. It’s hard to do normal things like go to the park or go to the grocery store,” Jovovich laments. While Ever is “getting used to” the photographers, she’s unhappy with them nonetheless. “[She] says, ‘I want to break them … Oh camera … I want to break them,’” the Resident Evil: Afterlife star reports. “Sometimes I don’t even see them and she spots them, like, from a mile away.”

Because their presence tends to leave other parents feeling “pissed off,” Jovovich says she now sends her daughter to the park with a nanny instead. “She’s like, ‘Momma come to the park with me,’ and I say, ‘When Momma goes to the park, all the photographers come, so you go and play with your friends,’” Jovovich says. “It gets really tense at the park.”

As most of you will know, we don’t post candid pictures of Milla and her family and friends in their everyday private lives on our website, for this very reason.

Speaking of Afterlife, though, Shock Till You Drop has an interesting interview with Milla regarding the upcoming fourth installment which is definitely worth a read if Afterlife is something you’re anticipating. In the interview, Milla among other things discusses how her character Alice has changed in the new film (even hinting at a possible love interest!), how the clones were carried out and how she and director-hubby Anderson collaborated on the script. Be sure to read the interview in full at ShockTillYouDrop.com!

Earlier this week, Milla Jovovich announced via her Twitter account @MillaJovovich that she’ll be auctioning off a white Isabel Marant top/dress that Milla herself has customized with scribblings and a sown-in Isabel Marant necklace. The auction, from which all proceeds will go to Artists for Peace and Justice via Crafts for a Cause, will run until March 27 — you still have a good four days left to bid.

Bidding for the dress is currently open at BiddingForGood.com. As the current winning bid after 23 bids is $430, the minimum bid is now at $445. Please note that the dress is a size S (small). A word from Milla about the dress via BiddingForGood.com:

“i LOVED making this piece so much! the first pic was taken on the night that i started writing on the dress with only a ballpoint pen to work with, which was rather frustrating as the pen hardly showed up at all. but i wanted to at least post a pic of the “first step” and show everyone that i really wanted to add my time and support to this uncannily interesting project (and cheeky too! wink wink Binki!) to help raise money for haitian relief through artists for peace and justice. the t shirt/dress was made by one of my FAVORITE designers; Isabel Marant. I have used lyrics from songs that i wrote to draw all over the dress and the words wrap around to the back. i have sewn a necklace (also designed by Isabel Marant) unto the neckline of the dress. It’s such a gorgeous piece of jewelry, geometric shape with a sort of cleopatra-ish vibe going on at the same time. GOTTA LOVE THAT! anyway, it’s one of my favorites that i’ve collected and i am so happy to share it with people who are helping raise money for such a crucial cause! and last but not least, whatever lucky girl is gonna get this rad piece is gonna have the biggest smile on her face when she sees it in reality! thanks so much for bidding everyone! all the best! -m”

Check out a couple of photos of Milla wearing the dress below, and don’t forget to place a bid on this unique item!

Update Mar 28: Bidding is closed, guys! After 34 bids, the winner took home this item for the price of $1,015.

Check out this interesting article from The Washington Post, in which Milla Jovovich talks about tweeting as a new way of interacting with her fans. As many of you will know, Milla opened her Twitter account @MillaJovovich in November 2009, initially to talk about filming Resident Evil: Afterlife in chilly Fall Toronto, Canada. Excerpt from The Washington Post:

But how did Jovovich — a bona fide box office draw who still manages to stay well below the paparazzi radar — start tweeting in the first place? Although she’s long maintained a robust site for fans, she’d pretty much dismissed the idea of tweeting. But the studio asked her to sign on and talk about her experiences filming the next “Resident Evil” movie (due in theaters this fall). And, well, it kind of grew on her.

“I do stuff that for people I know is normal,” said Jovovich in a phone interview. “But for many it isn’t normal and they like to read about it.”

In the beginning, Jovovich confessed that she was a little overzealous — tweeting from her on-set trailer several times throughout the day. “It’s growing pains,” she said. “Soon I realized there was no way I could do this all the time.” And so as the months passed, Jovovich ratcheted back her missives. Between work, a recent belated honeymoon and chasing around two-year-old daughter Ever Gabo, Jovovich just doesn’t have the bandwidth to keep up a real-time dialogue.

“You want to be in touch with your fans,” she said. “But if you’re on Twitter all the time you don’t have time to be the person they liked so much in the first place.”

Jovovich credits the medium with putting her in direct touch with her fans without the intervention of journalists who (she half-jokingly hints) often have an agenda and “print what they want to print.” But she’s aware of the missteps of her peers — like Courtney Love and the above-mentioned Tila Tequila — who use Twitter as a means to “unload” negativity.

“I’m not going to get on and say I just got in a fight with my mom,” says Jovovich. “I use [Twitter] to write things I want people to know about me. I still have some intense discussions with my fans, but it’s all about stuff I believe in.”
