Well, that’s a wrap! Wherever you are, we hope everyone was able to tune in to Milla Jovovich performing live online with her friends Chris Brenner, Danny Lohner and Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. The roughly hour-long performance on Vokle.com ended just moments ago, and here’s our coverage of it to those who missed it.
Although the performance started nearly 50 minutes late, at roughly 5:50 PM EST, it was well worth the wait. Spontaneous, inspired, warm, even a little improvised, Milla and friends performed the following set of songs for our hearing pleasure:
1. “Gentleman Who Fell” (remix) – from Milla’s 1994 debut album, The Divine Comedy
2. “The Mission” – Milla’s 2009 collaboration with Maynard James Keenan’s band, Puscifer
3. “Lazy Orbit” – an unreleased “demo” Milla herself has published on her official site
The three-song set was followed by some inspired jamming from Milla and Matt Skiba, after which they threw an “encore performance” of all three aforementioned songs, before finally calling it a day, music-wise (she’s actually right now doing a live, post-concert video chat with her fans via Vokle.com!).
Don’t forget Milla Jovovich will be performing live online today, January 15, as part of her 200k Twitterbration!
As some of you will know, Milla, who’s been one of the web’s most active tweeters since she opened up her Twitter account @MillaJovovich in November 2009, recently rearched 200,000 followers on Twitter. In celebration of this, Milla is throwing another “Twitterbration”, this time including a live online performance of three songs via Vokle.com! Longtime friends Chris Brenner and Danny Lohner as well as Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio will be joining her for “show”, which will take place beginning 5 PM PST (local Los Angeles time), and as stated before, is indeed live, so be sure to check what time that’ll be in your time zone.
As her second Twitterbration charity, Milla encourages her fans to make donations to the Sophie’s Voice Foundation, the spina bifida treatment research foundation launched by Milla’s Resident Evil: Afterlife co-star Boris Kodjoe, whose daughter Sophie was born with the defect. Find out more about the foundation and make a donation at SophiesVoiceFoundation.org. Every little helps!
As many of you will know, Milla Jovovich has been generously sharing video and photo material with her fans via her Twitter account @MillaJovovich, as launched in November 2009. Now, as announced on Twitter, Milla will be throwing a rare live online performance of three songs for her fans! Continue reading for more details, coming straight from the source via Twitter.
The live performance is currently scheduled for January 15, which will also mark Milla’s second “Twitterbration” in celebration of every 100,000 new followers she gets. Although it is likely Milla will reach 200,000 followers on Twitter before the Jan 15 date (she’s currently at a good 180,000), she says she has postponed the event because she will “be leaving tomorrow 4 my honeymoon”. According to Milla, Matt Skiba of the American punk rock band Alkaline Trio, Danny Lohner and Chris Brenner will also be joining her for the performance.
According to Milla’s Twitter, the acoustic performance will be streamed live via Vokle.com, a website for live online events, on Jan 15 @ 5-6 PM local Los Angeles time. As Milla’s second “Twitterbration” charity Milla would like for people to donate money to the Sophie’s Voice Foundation, the spina bifida treatment research foundation launched by Milla’s Resident Evil: Afterlife co-star Boris Kodjoe and his family (Kodjoe’s daughter was born with the spina bifida-defect). More information on how to donate can be found at SophiesVoiceFoundation.org, while Milla will surely keep us posted on when exactly to do so and be part of her 200k “Twitterbration”.
Don’t miss out on this rare musical treat from Milla! Especially if you’re not familiar with her past and present musical work, this will be an excellent opportunity for her fans to introduce themselves to a whole different side of her. Stay tuned for updates!
Well, this ought to be different! According to Milla’s official site, Milla Jovovich will appear as herself in the upcoming Blood Into Wine film, a documentary about Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan’s vineyard, Caduceus Cellars. A trailer for the documentary has been released on the film website at BloodIntoWine.com — be sure to check it out as Milla is in it!
As some of you will know, Milla has been collaborating vocal talent-wise with Puscifer throughout the year by e.g. providing vocals for the Puscifer single “The Mission” and appearing onstage at the band’s Las Vegas and Los Angeles concerts in February and April respectively. Blood Into Wine will have its World Premiere at the W Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona in the States on February 19 2010. Tickets to the event are available via WScottsdaleTickets.com. As of yet, we have no word on whether or not Milla is expected to show.
Anyway, some HD trailer screen captures have been uploaded to our gallery. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on further developments regarding the film this Winter, so do check back with us for updates!
In the wake of the release of the single, the campaign forces have revealed new material on the remade song, including material on Milla. TimeForClimateJustice.org has a video teaser for the song available for viewing on their website, which features some great, if brief shots of Milla recording the song. Meanwhile, the Tck Campaign MySpace page also features new related material, most noteworthily the lyrics for the reworded song and two behind-the-scenes video clips from the recording sessions. You’ll particularly want to check out the first “Making of – New York” video clip (as embedded below), as the clip features some 15 seconds of footage from Milla’s recording session at 4:00 (Milla also makes a brief second appearance at 5:01):
Thanks to our friend Mia of Magnifique Marion Cotillard for the heads-up! Finally, the gallery has been updated with the first campaign promotional photo of Milla as well as screen captures of her teaser video appearance. Don’t forget to check them all out! For more information on the campaign and the cause that is being advocated, please visit TckTckTck.org.
According to The Guardian, Milla Jovovich will be collaborating with other artists to record a new version of the 1987 Midnight Oil single “Beds are Burning” as part of the recently announced Kofi Annan Campaign for Climate Justice. The single will be released for free download in September 2009 to raise awareness for the cause. From The Guardian:
Geldof will work with artists including Duran Duran on the initiative, unveiled at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. The plan to record a new version of Beds are Burning marks the launch of former UN secretary general Kofi Annan’s Campaign for Climate Justice to raise awareness of the disproportionate affect of global warming on the world’s poorest communities. The campaign’s aim is to galvanise the global public to put pressure on world leaders to take stringent climate change measures at the critical United Nations summit in Copenhagen in December to secure a new treaty to replace the Kyoto protocol.
One feature of the campaign will be a We Are The World-style collaborative single, featuring artists including Geldof, Duran Duran and actress Milla Jovovich, recording a reworded version of Midnight Oil’s 1987 protest song Beds are Burning. The Australian band has reworked some of the lyrics to make it directly relevant to the climate change issue. The single will be released as a free music download from September both to raise awareness and act as a “giant digital petition” by those who download it.
Aww, aren’t they just adorable? Last Sunday, May 10 2009, Milla Jovovich and daughter Ever were photographed at the Los Angeles book release party for Julianne Moore’s children’s book, Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully. Milla was looking as lovely as ever in a Ralph Lauren sweater dress and red belt. Only three medium-res photos from the event so far, but of course we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more. Report from the Celebrity Baby Blog:
On Mother’s Day afternoon, actress and children’s book author, Julianne Moore appeared at the Ralph Lauren Children’s Store on Robertson Boulevard to read and sign copies of her most recent picture book, Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully. Julianne and bestselling illustrator LeUyen Pham combine talents again for the most recent Freckleface Strawberry story. This time their perky, loveable seven-year-old encounters a bully on the playground — Windy Pants Patrick — during a game of dodgeball.
Mothers and children, including Laura Dern and Milla Jovovich, along with 18-month-old Ever Gabo, joined Pilar Guzmán — Editor-in-chief of Cookie Magazine — for this special reading followed by an afternoon of treats — including exclusive Sprinkles cupcakes — and activities including face painting, balloon artistry and more Freckleface fun. Fifteen percent of the event’s sales benefited Save the Children.
