Gallery and media archive registration is back!

Hello everyone! I am back from my week of offline-ness and out of town-ness, and am pleased to inform you that gallery and media archive registrations are once again open for one and all! My apologies for any inconvenience the temporary closure of the registration forms may have caused, but I can assure it was a necessary evil. Just go to the gallery or media archive and you’ll now again find a “Register” link in the navigation.

Anyway, with a week’s delay in updates there is some Milla news to cover this weekend, but more on that later. However, to make up for my absence I promise to have something special for you on New Year’s Eve, so be sure to check back on Monday for a surprise Milla treat. ;) Catch you later!

No updates December 22 - 28 2007!

Ahoy, everyone! As I will be heading out of the country tomorrow, Milla Fan will unfortunately have no updates December 22-28 2007. I will have little to no time on the internet, and will be unable to respond to any emails or approve comments. Updates will again resume on December 29. Once I return, however, I will have some enormous Milla media updates for you, so stay tuned!

Attention! Please not that gallery and media archive registrations will also be closed Dec 22-28 2007 for a number of reasons, and only registered members will be able to access the gallery contents and/or the video archive. Registration will be opened again on December 29 (no sooner, no later). Kindly do not email me with registration requests as a) I will be unable to fill your requests, and b) I cannot read or respond to your messages. Unregistered members will have to wait until Dec 29 for registration to re-open. Thank you.

Finally, happy holidays and merry Christmas, everybody! Have a good one. ;)

Regarding video downloads!

As I’m sure some of you noticed, Milla Fan was down for half a day starting yesterday. This was because recent video downloads had garnered unexpected bandwidth, and over 2 GB of bandwidth was consumed in just one hour. If this problem persists, I will be forced to move the site elsewhere where bandwidth is less of an issue, which is why I would like to kindly ask you to cut down the frequent downloading a little; I like my ad-free hosting, as I’m sure you do too. YouTube is not an option I’m willing to consider for a number of reasons. Also, if you are hotlinking to any of our videos (which would explain why Coppermine is being so slow at counting file views) - please don’t.

As a preventive method, I have now made the video archive available for registered members only. Unlogged users will still be able to view the non-video downloads available at our media archive, but you need to register a username and login in order to view the video downloads. My apologies for the inconvenience. Again, if you are hotlinking to any of our videos, please don’t. Similarly, if you find someone hotlinking to the videos at our Media Archive, please let me know, and I will deal with the matter immediately. Thank you.

Welcome to the all new Milla Fan, version 7!

My goodness was this revamp just delayed over and over and over again, or what? That was my fault, my apologies. But at last it’s here (mostly, anyway) - the all new, revamped Milla Fan, celebrating the birth of Ever Gabo Anderson earlier this month. All content has been revised, redone and proofread, and lots of new content has been added - in earnest, I’m too tired to go through it all because I haven’t slept in well over 24h. Heck, even the feedback form works now!

Furthermore, I have at last launched the much awaited Milla Fan Media Archive, featuring over 100 video clips and 400 fan creations. For these I would like to especially thank Cottelletje, Kate, Katya, Liz, Mycah and Steffy - your fan art contributions have been irreplaceable! If anyone has any more Milla fan art to contribute, do get in touch (I’m open to any type of fan art, as long as it is Milla-related)!

And finally, a few notifications. Firstly, the new layout has been designed for resolutions 1024×768 pixels or above and will not function properly in resolutions below that. My apologies, but I had a lot of difficulties coding this one. Secondly, there are still a handful of sections that are incomplete (mainly in the information section) - but I’m working on them. Meanwhile, enjoy the existing site and all the new sitely goodies - updates will resume again tomorrow. Until then…

Update: This layout has now been tested in and tweeked for Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Firefox 2 and Safari 3. (Thanks, Dale, for reporting the IE7 issue, it should now be fixed.)

News on Milla is scarce at present, so I thought I would take this time to shamelessly plug my new fan site dedicated to the Israeli-born American actress Natalie Portman, whom you’ll know from film such as The Professional, Where The Heart Is, V for Vendetta, the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Goya’s Ghosts, Garden State, as well as for her Oscar-nominated performance in Mike Nichols’ award-winning drama film Closer. I’ve just put up a temporary version of Portman Source, my fan site dedicated to this gifted actress - I expect to launch the full version in the Winter of 2008. Media section overhaul - contributions wanted!

I have at last been able to take some time to go through the media contributions I have gotten of late (for which I am eternally grateful to you guys, btw! You know who you are), and have decided that the multimedia section of Milla Fan is in dire need of a revamp. I’m thus currently in the process of constructing a brand new media archive, with hundreds of Milla-related fan art pieces and brand new, site exclusive video clips (which I’ve been sitting on for months). However, in order to create as extensive a media source on Milla as possible, I’ll be needing your help. :)

I’m currently gathering new Milla fan art and videos, and if you are sitting on any Milla fan art or video clips, and would be willing to help me out, I would appreciate it very much. Naturally, you would be fully credited for your work. Here’s what I’m looking for:

• Milla-related videos; talk show clips, interviews, public appearance clips, on set-footage, movie- and TV episode clips, music videos, commercials etc. Basically, any video clips featuring Milla!
• Milla-related fan art; livejournal icons, desktops, drawings/paintings, vectors/vexels, blends, collages, calendars, colorizations, photo manipulations, faux posters… you name it, I’m open to suggestions!

Out of town September 9-16 2007!

Gosh, what a time to go on holiday, I know, but I wasn’t in charge of setting the date. Unfortunately, I will be heading out of town (to Italy, actually) for a period of seven days, during which it is highly unlikely that I will be able to update Milla Fan. If I can, I will try and pop in in case there’s a big Milla-related event, but - I can’t make any promises. Either way, I’ll be back next Sunday, on September 16, just in time for the September 19 world premiere of Resident Evil: Extinction! However, due to me being unable to answer any emails in this time, gallery registrations will be closed for the week. They’ll be back next Sunday. Apologies for the inconvenience this may cause. :/

Either way there seems to be no notable talk show appearances coming up for any of the cast of Resident Evil: Extinction next week - I don’t know when the Moviefone Unscripted session with Milla and Ali Larter will be put online. However, a new photoshoot with Milla has surfaced online - if anyone can get these untagged I’d appreciate it very much. :) I also added another L.A. Times outtake to the gallery. More media updates (a lá my lovely contributors) when I get back! :)
