Although we already reported this before in our initial Clock Tower update thanks to a reliable source, here it is one more time: Contrary to fervent online reports, Milla Jovovich will not be starring in the upcoming video game horror thriller Clock Tower, and I think we can now call this confirmed.

Earlier this week, Bloody Disgusting claimed they had confirmed with their sources Milla will be starring in the Weinstein Co. produced upcoming film, co-starring Brittany Snow and Alyssa Jayne Hale. However, ShockTillYouDrop has received word from Milla Jovovich herself via her official site representatives that she is, in fact, not doing the film. So that’s settled then.

Personally, I am not surprised nor disappointed. That Milla should take on another horror video game onscreen rendition seemed to me quite unlikely in view of her Resident Evil work, which pretty much covers all the video-game-to-film work she’ll ever need to make, and as much as I love her in Resident Evil I would love to see her career go in a new direction.

Great news, everyone! It would seem Chilean department store Paris is not the only company Milla is fronting this year, as new photos of Milla appearing in the Fall/Winter 2008-2009 campaign of Turkish clothing company Derimod have surfaced online.

As of yet, I don’t have a lot of information to share with you on the company or Milla’s involvement in their newest ad campaign. However, Hurriyet.com.tr has what looks like a Turkish-language article on Milla alongside the first photos from the Fall/Winter campaign — if anyone would be willing to translate the article for us, please get in touch! Thank you. Meanwhile, the first stunning four medium- and hi-res photos from the ad campaign have been added to the gallery. Many thanks to HT @ MillaJForum.com for the heads-up!

According to Digital Spy, Milla is rumored to be “in talks” for a starring role in another upcoming video-game-to-screen horror thriller, Clock Tower à la Weinstein Co. Keep in mind that this is as of yet very much a rumor, and considering Milla’s background in Resident Evilanother horror video game film starring Milla? Really? — I would take this one with a pinch of salt. No, actually a whole fistful of salt, rather. From Digital Spy:

Milla Jovovich is rumoured to be in talks to star in upcoming video game adaptation Clock Tower. The Senator Entertainment and Weinstein Company film focuses on a psychiatric patient who is plagued by religious imagery after watching her parents die. Brittany Snow was linked to the project last month. Filming is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in November.

Update Oct 15: Although we’re getting some mixed online reports (mainly à la BloodyDisgusting.com) regarding this rumor, Milla’s rumored involvement in Clock Tower is to my knowledge not true. Surprised? I think not.

Exciting news! Several online news sources are reporting a fourth installment in the Resident Evil trilogy is indeed planned, and (according to MovieWeb) for a November 2009 release at that! Milla is also rumored to reprise the role of Alice in the film, although there are speculations as to what extent Alice will be included in the storyline of the upcoming film; as most of you will know, the third installment Resident Evil: Extinction left a hologram of Alice and a hoard of her clones threatening the Tokyo branch of the Umbrella Corporation.

Although no official sources have to my knowledge confirmed the sequel, Resident Evil writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson has touched on the subject in many a recent interview, and now movie sites are beginning to treat the discussed and as-of-yet untitled sequel as confirmed. Some excerpts from recent online reports:

MovieWeb.com: “Milla Jovovich is set to reprise her signature role as Alice in this fourth installment, which takes off where Resident Evil: Afterlife ended in Japan.”

SundaySun.co.uk: “Paul may be enjoying being a dad, but he is already busy with plans for several films, including a return to his most popular franchise, Resident Evil. He added: ‘I’m writing an adaptation of the Long Good Friday right now, set in present-day Miami. Then I will probably write Resident Evil 4.’”
